When you first arrive in Tetouan looking for a restaurant you may wonder where on earth you are going to eat every day. Although you are surrounded by cafes, pizzerias and restaurants in the centre of Tetouan, they may not be where you would normally fancy eating in due to their appearance.
As an example, one of the best dishes I have eaten (in fact I go there quite regularly now) is served in a little ramshackle restaurant half the way up a mountain where the road runs out and turns into a dusty, gravely pathway.
Read revues about other restaurants in Tetouan, Morocco.
I don´t know exactly what they have on their menu in this restaurant, but the prawn tajine they serve is a melt in your mouth, extravaganza of taste explosions that leave you believing that life is always meant to be that good. The boquerones (sardine) tajine is excellent as well and was my Nº1 favourite dish ever until I tried the gambas (prawn) tajine they do.
Apart from the food, the tea is incredible and quite amazing as too. Unlike normal tea or Moroccan tea, the tea they serve in this restaurant in the Rif Mountains of Tetouan, Northern Morocco doesn´t need any sugar added to it to give it its sweetness. They say it is due to the famous crystal clear natural mountain spring water that they use to make it as well as the freshness of the mint leaves that give it its special taste. From my point of view it is the best Moroccan mint tea as well in any restaurant in Tetouan and possibly the rest of Morocco.
That same fresh mountain spring water is served directly from the mountain springs in bottles and really is delicious. You would have to be there to try it to really believe. They say the water gives a really strong appetite and so serves all of the restaurants in the Rif Mountains very well.
To top it all off you can enjoy the best seafood tajine and Moroccan mint tea whilst looking out across a panoramic view of the city of Tetouan clinging to the foot of the Rif Mountains watching the sun set behind them throwing a mesmerizing spectrum of beautiful colors across the sky.
